Melody
Hallman Daniel
(Frannie
Filks, Co-Writer)
The
role of Frannie Filks was easily the hardest for
us to cast, given a variety of circumstances that
began to arise during pre-production. One night
we did a Google search for any actresses in the
North Carolina area and Melody Hallman Daniel
was one of the first to pop up. We looked at a
few others but... there was just something
about Melody that we kept coming back to. We sent
her the script and a few nights later drove down
to Rock Hill, South Carolina to meet her and husband
Nathan for dinner. Of all the wonderful things
that happened during the production of Forcery,
it was our newfound friendship with Melody and
Nate that was by far the best! An accomplished
actress who has performed and studied the stage
throughout the United States and Europe (including
the legendary Globe
Theatre of Shakespeare fame), Melody is at
once a professional actress, singer, vocal coach,
and college professor in the Department
of Theatre and Dance at Winthrop University
where she teaches Acting, Camera Acting, and Theatre
Careers. She is also an entrepreneur in her own
business,
Skillbuilder Communications Resources. And
despite ALL that, she still found time to help
us with Forcery: suffice it to say we
were DELIGHTED to have an actress of her high
calibre on board! Melody not only delivered a
powerhouse performance as Frannie (she will positively
scare you and make you laugh) but her
expertise and experience came in quite handy as
she suggested camera technique and blocking out
some action (that she put up with us - two first-time
filmmakers - also speaks volumes about her having
the patience of Job). Melody also shares a co-writing
credit, since she came up with and wrote on her
own the scene between Frannie and Sheriff Boozer
in the guest bedroom.
